Master the
Radiant Trenches
Elevate your tactical shooter knowledge. Dive into realistic map strategies, understand core agent responsibilities, and learn the fundamentals of crosshair placement to outsmart the opposition.
Core Agent Responsibilities
A balanced team composition is the foundation of any successful match. Understanding your agent's specific role dictates how you should approach every round, from the buy phase to the post-plant.
Avoid the trap of playing every character the same way. A Sentinel pushing aggressively on defense often leaves the team vulnerable, while a Duelist playing passively on attack forces the team into choke points.
Duelists
The self-sufficient entry fraggers. Your job is to create space for the team by taking first engagements and breaking through defensive lines on a site execution.
Initiators
The information brokers. Use your utility to flush out defenders from common angles, gather recon, and assist your Duelists in securing the site.
Controllers
The architects of the battlefield. By deploying smokes and vision-blocking utility, you slice the map into manageable pieces, making executions safer.
Sentinels
The defensive anchors. Specialists at locking down areas and watching flanks. Your traps and stalls buy precious time for your team to rotate.
Tactical Map Control
The Importance of Mid
In maps like Ascent, mid control is the key to victory. Controlling the center of the map forces defenders to spread thin and guess where the primary execution will happen.
- Defaulting: Spread out early to listen for defensive aggression and bait out utility.
- Trading: Never peek alone if you don't have to. Ensure a teammate is positioned to secure the trade if you fall.
- Rotations: Once information is gathered or a pick is secured, quickly rotate through your controlled territory.
Managing the Bank
Winning gunfights is only half the battle. If your team cannot coordinate its economy, you will consistently find yourselves outgunned.
Save Rounds (Eco)
Accepting a likely loss this round to guarantee a full buy next round. Stick to classic pistols or cheap sidearms. The goal is economic damage, securing a plant, or grabbing a dropped weapon.
Full Buy
Armor, primary rifles (Vandal/Phantom), and full utility. The team must buy together. If one player forces a buy while others save, the economy breaks.
Half Buy / Force
Buying SMGs or shotguns with light armor. Often done after winning a pistol round or in a desperate attempt to break the enemy's economy before the half ends.
Communication & Fair Play
A strong mental game is as crucial as mechanical aim.
Valorant is a team-based tactical shooter. Constructive communication over voice comms wins matches. Calling out enemy locations, utility usage, and damage dealt is essential. Toxic behavior, harassment, and giving up early only guarantee a loss. Be the teammate you want to queue with.
